Voices for Change: Climate Resilience
Supporting climate adaptation and community resilience through environmental publishing, storytelling, education and grassroots action.
Climate change is already reshaping our lives, yet those with the fewest resources to protect themselves are often the hardest hit. Communities facing poverty, inequality and social isolation are increasingly vulnerable to extreme weather, flooding, rising costs and environmental degradation. Too often, their experiences go unheard, their knowledge is overlooked, and decisions about their future are made without them. But resilience is not something that can simply be delivered from above. It grows when people come together, share what they know, support one another and discover that they have the power to shape their own future.
Voices for Change: Climate Resilience aims to help make that possible. Through community storytelling, creative mentoring, environmental education and publishing, we will support people whose voices are too often excluded to share their experiences, concerns and solutions. Working alongside local organisations and environmental practitioners, we will bring together lived experience and practical adaptation knowledge, creating accessible publications and online resources that others can learn from.
Our aim is not simply to raise awareness of climate change, but to strengthen the connections, confidence and collective understanding that help communities prepare for it.
Arkbound Foundation has a longstanding commitment to confronting the climate crisis through environmental publishing, education, community engagement and practical action. We believe that meaningful change begins by connecting knowledge with lived experience, amplifying overlooked voices and empowering communities to shape their own futures.
Ahead of COP26 in Glasgow, we published Climate Adaptation: Accounts of Resilience, Self-Sufficiency and Systems Change, bringing together international perspectives on climate justice, ecological sustainability and community-led adaptation. Alongside this, we published Dr Morgan Phillips' Great Adaptations, developed in collaboration with The Glacier Trust, examining how societies can respond effectively and equitably to a changing climate.
Our commitment extends beyond publishing. Through our Oakupy initiative, we have supported the planting of thousands of native trees around Bristol, helping restore biodiversity and reconnect communities with their natural environment. Arkbound has also received accreditation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), reflecting our engagement with environmental challenges at an international level.
From grassroots conservation to global climate discussions, our work has consistently sought to bridge the divide between awareness and action. Voices for Change builds on this foundation, bringing our experience in environmental communication, publishing and community empowerment directly into Glasgow's neighbourhoods, where the need for collective resilience is becoming increasingly urgent.
