"Rights, inclusion, activism, untold stories..."

On the 27th of July 2019 Arkbound was privileged to contribute to the Arnolfini event “Untold Stories”, which celebrated 30 years of Disability Activism in Bristol. The poster for this event is featured below - a photo taken in 1989. Arkbound Foundation supported the event by installing a wall of art, with thoughts and comments, as well as writing workshops. We provided lots of homemade snacks and cakes (courtesy of Val). The event was an inspiring catalyst, since we've been meeting regularly under BRIL (Bristol Reclaiming Independent Living) to imagine what a community generated publication on disability rights, inclusion, and activism might entail.

Arkbound is inviting everyone to help get 'untold stories told'. This might include poems, together with essays about disability rights, letters from lived experience, or recent history - including updates on policies, accessibility and legislation.

We also want to signpost you to a practical guide to coronavirus if you are disabled Here. During this time, we are hoping to keep everyone engaged through our project, though we have had to move towards online communication, mentoring via Zoom/video call, emails, texts and social media.
